BOJO IN TORY PORN STORM

MP targeted in party data hack

- ■ by CHARLES WADE-PALMER sunday@dailystar.co.uk

BORIS Johnson’s official conference photo was changed to a hardcore porn snap after Tory MPs’ details were leaked.

The official app for the event appeared to have a security flaw allowing people to see the private data of attendees, including Cabinet ministers.

The CPC 2018 software allowed anyone to log in as a politician, delegate or journalist attending the Birmingham event simply by using their email address.

Once in the system as that person, they were able to access information, including their mobile phone numbers.

Hackers swiftly changed the details for Mr Johnson, inset, including swapping his image for a hardcore porn shot, changing his title to d ****** d and his position to “HARD BORDER”. Images posted to Twitter yesterday showed people also logging in as Michael Gove and leaving messages on the app’s internal messaging system.

Columnist Dawn Foster, who spotted the flaw, wrote: “FFS, the Tory conference app allows you to log in as other people and view their contact details just with their email address, no emailed security links, and post comments as them.

“They have essentially made every journalist, politician and attendee’s mobile number public.”

The app, created by Australian firm Crown Comms, was updated and the login function removed after concerns were raised by the Conservatives.

The party could now face a probe and a fine from the Information Commissioner’s Office.

An ICO spokesman said: “We are aware of an incident and will be making inquiries.” Labour seized on the error to question the Tories’ competence. Jon Trickett, Shadow Cabinet Office Minister, said: “How can we trust this Tory government with our country’s security when they can’t even build a conference app that keeps the data of their members, MPs and others attending safe and secure? “The Conservative party should roll out some basic computer security training to get their house in order.”
