SJP gem ‘theft’row boils over
SEX And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker is said to be “enraged” after being accused of stealing diamond jewellery worth £115,000.
Parker, 53, allegedly failed to return the sparklers after borrowing them from a British design company for a photo shoot more than two years ago.
Now she could be ordered to return them by a federal court in New York as part of a £5.7million lawsuit brought against her by London-based Kat Florence Design.
The company claims she was paid the money and lent the jewels as part of an endorsement deal that went sour when she allegedly failed to honour her contract by endorsing the firm in interviews and at personal appearances.
In court papers, Kat Florence alleges “all good faith performance ceased” after Parker appeared at several promotional events in 2016.
The case is expected to be heard early next year, with the jewellery firm seeking full repayment as well as “compensatory damages”.
Kat Florence is also demanding the return of diamond rings, earrings and a pendant purportedly loaned to Parker.
But Parker’s spokesman insisted she had tried to send the jewels back.
A close friend added: “She’s enraged. There was never any written agreement over those pieces and she would never intentionally keep something that wasn’t hers.”
