Pott luck as Bojan strikes late to relieve pressure on Rowett

- By NATHAN HEMMINGHAM

BOJAN’S late header rescued a point and gave under-fire Stoke boss Gary Rowett some breathing space.

A crazy five-minute spell in the second half saw Rotherham open up a 2-0 lead before first Tom Ince and then Bojan handed Rowett a boost.

But his side should have claimed all three points after totally dominating. Woeful finishing and sloppy defending almost cost them dear.

The Potters had a chance in the fifth minute when Benik Afobe saw his shot saved by Marek Rodak.

The United keeper denied the big striker again 10 minutes later with a fine fingertip save.

Rotherham were hardly a threat in the first half but they were almost gifted the lead on the half-hour when Jack Butland threw the ball straight to Ryan Manning and the midfielder could only find the side-netting.

It looked as though it was not going to be Afobe’s day when he saw an effort come back off the crossbar. Stoke were then punished for not taking their chances.

Rotherham got a penalty within 60 seconds of the restart when Ashley Williams bundled namesake Ryan to the ground and Manning netted.

Four minutes later Richie Towell was on hand to fire past Butland.

Ince gave the visitors a lifeline when he slotted home but it needed Bojan (left) to react quickest in the box to flick his header past Rodak and earn a point.
