Duke’s Jut the job for boss Monk

- By JOHN WRAGG

TWO-GOAL Lucas Jutkiewicz came to Birmingham’s rescue against struggling Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys took a shock lead through Grant Ward and Matthew Pennington and Blues boss Garry Monk said he could have hooked his entire team at half-time.

“We didn’t compete in the first half,” said Monk.

“I could have taken them all off at half-time but I haven’t got 11 subs.”

Pennington was later sent off for two yellow cards leaving his team with 10 men for the last hectic six minutes.

Birmingham were rampant again by then, fired up by Jutkiewicz.

He is nicknamed ‘The Duke’ and he led Ipswich a royal dance with his first goal two minutes into the second half and a 68th-minute equaliser.

Ipswich boss Paul Hurst said: “When Birmingham fought back some teams could have gone under quite easily but that didn’t happen to us.

“I saw some leadership on the pitch.”
