Eddie’s Cip snub logic is ‘rubbish’

- ■ by GARY FITZGERALD

EDDIE JONES has been accused of talking “absolute rubbish” over Danny Cipriani’s squad axing.

The Aussie came under fire for the way he dumped the Gloucester fly-half (below) from his autumn plans.

Jones claims Cipriani did not deserve a place in his England training party because of his club form.

But former Test No.10 Andy

Goode is not convinced.

He said: “There’s more to this than rugby reasons.

“The decision to leave Cipriani out is baffling and not to do with his club form.

“He can feel massively aggrieved because when the squad was announced he had played three games for Gloucester and was man of the match in two. For him to say, ‘I just wanted two fly-halves in the squad’, just to get a reaction from his players is absolute rubbish to me.

“There’s a lot of confusion coming out of Eddie’s mouth at the minute.” England host South Africa on November 3.

They then face New Zealand, Japan and Australia on successive weekends. Goode said: “England need to make a good start this autumn and right the wrongs of the summer. Jones is going to stay in the job into the World Cup but it’s just the pressure that builds with results.”
