USA win 4&3
JORDAN SPIETH has urged Team USA to produce some perfection in Paris and pull off a famous Ryder Cup comeback.
Jim Furyk’s men suffered another difficult day at Le Golf National as Europe took five points from eight to establish a commanding 10-6 lead heading into today’s singles. The deficit is one of the largest the US have faced on European soil and Thomas Bjorn’s men are red-hot favourites to win back the trophy.
But Europe came back from the same scoreline to secure a famous win at Medinah in 2012 – and Spieth claims there is no reason why the US cannot do the same thing here.
The three-time Major winner reckons that if the US make a fast start to win some of their early matches and get some momentum going, anything can happen.
Spieth, 27 (above) said: “Momentum certainly is important – if Europe get a couple points on the board we have to win something like eight out of the next 10.
“So we’ve got to get off to a good start, we know that, but even if we are leading we would be saying the same thing.”
