Jurg: De Bruy done good to be fit so quick

- ■ by STEVE MILLAR

JURGEN KLOPP was the first to applaud the possible return of Kevin De Bruyne for the top-of-the-table clash at Anfield today.

The Liverpool boss is a big fan of the Manchester City star and put rivalries aside to sing the Belgium blockbuster’s praises.

De Bruyne injured knee ligaments in training almost two months ago and was earmarked for a comeback against United in the Manchester derby on November 11.

But the City midfield maestro, 27, is way ahead of schedule and boss Pep Guardiola has hinted he could return against Klopp’s title-chasers this afternoon.

De Bruyne (above right) would be an obvious threat if he played – probably coming off the bench – but it didn’t stop the Kop boss showing admiration for his skills.

Klopp (above left) asked if he would welcome De Bruyne’s big return, said: “Absolutely, 100 per cent. I really like him as a player. His injury happened in August so we’re now in October so that is really quick.

“When I first heard about his injury I didn’t think it could be that quick. We want to beat City – that is no secret – but you want to beat the best City and Kevin De Bruyne for sure is part of the best City team.

“What do I admire about Kevin? His talent, skills, attitude and then with all those things his decision making. Using the right skills at the right moment.

“And, of course, David Silva is not too bad at that either.”

Klopp is licking his lips at the prospect of playing City with three victories against the champions last season – two on the way to the Champions League Final – a record he would love to improve on.

He added: “People ask me what is my secret against Pep Guardiola – but there is no secret. They have a good squad and very good players.

“But if my players don’t fulfil the plan we have, there would be no chance. Yes, I love these games – but I love them most after the game we have won. So hopefully I will still love the game Sunday night.”
