Alan: I’m scared of Corrie exit

-

CORRIE star Alan Halsall fears he will be axed.

The actor, 36, has been playing Tyrone Dobbs for two decades.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “Not knowing what will happen is part and parcel of my job. It’s always expected that my character could be written out.

“Of course, I would be devastated but that possibility is part of what I do.”

Alan signed a new contract last month which will keep him on the cobbles until autumn 2019.

He was delighted because it means he will hit 20 years on the show.

Alan said: “I’m born and raised in Salford where Coronation Street is set, so it’s always been a big thrill for me and my family when I’ve signed a new contract.

“After 20 years I still get that excitement.”

Alan joined as tearaway Tyrone in 1998 and has since appeared in more than 4,500 episodes.

Next month will mark the

20th anniversary of his first scene.

He said: “To reach the 20year milestone makes me feel old but I’m also really humbled by it.”

Alan is still at the centre of the action and his most recent storyline saw Tyrone track down his long-lost grandma.

Bosses hired veteran star Maureen Lipman to play Evelyn Plummer.

Alan added: “Working with Maureen is amazing.”
