Pompey flying high with Oliver soaring

KENNY JACKETT saw his Portsmouth team extended their lead at the top of the table with a 1-0 victory over Fleetwood.

Oliver Hawkins’ header in the second half was the difference at Fratton Park as Pompey recorded their

10th win of the season. That saw them move six points clear of Peterborou­gh – who lost 1-0 at home to Accrington with Sean McConville scoring.

Sunderland sit third after a 2-0 win at Shrewsbury.

The Black Cats were gifted the lead through an Omar Beckles own goal and Luke O’Nien made sure in the 84th minute.

Barnsley slipped to fifth after a 2-0 defeat at Charlton, with Karlan Grant getting a brace for the Addicks.

Doncaster lost ground on the leaders with a dramatic 3-3 draw against Gillingham.

Jodi Jones’ stoppage-time winner moved Coventry up to 10th with a 2-1 win over Southend after Simon Cox saw red, while Bristol Rovers and Oxford played out a goalless draw.
