DR ALEX: Fame’s so stressful… I’m heading back to real-life Casualty

-

ALEX George is returning to work as a doctor.

And he says he will be more relaxed in a busy A&E unit than at showbiz bashes.

The hunk will be doing part-time hospital shifts from next month.

He said: “Being a doctor is what I am and what I know. And I really enjoy my job.

“So it’s important to carry on. I’ve wanted to go back to A&E. It’s been a case of fitting in time for that.

“I’m very busy at the moment with other things. But it’s about having the right balance. It’s so important to do what I do and what I know. It’s important for me to keep doing that.

“It’s also my comfort zone, whereas showbiz certainly isn’t. My heart rate is much lower when I’m in A&E than when I’m on a red carpet.”

Since doing

Love Island over the summer,

Alex has been bombarded with showbiz job offers.

He is already carving out a career as a

TV doctor, and he often gets invites to glitzy events. Last week, Alex partied with his Love Island co-stars including winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham at ITV’s Palooza.

But he doesn’t want to be a fulltime celebrity.

Alex said: “When you get the opportunity to help someone as a doctor it’s such an incredible feeling. The reward is so much greater than anything you get from money or fame. “I get such a buzz. There are highs and lows and the pressures in A&E are huge at the moment. Things are incredibly challenging. But it’s really rewarding.” When Alex goes back to A&E it will be his first shift since becoming a star. He said: “I’m sure me being there will give some people a shock. “They might not be pleased to see me, you never know!”
