RAH SHOW WAS REAL BIG DEAL

-

RAHEEM STERLING couldn’t have picked a better country in which to rediscover his international scoring touch.

The Manchester City striker (below) scored twice in England’s stunning 3-2 win in Spain last Monday – his first goals for his country for three years. And his devastating display will not have gone unnoticed by Spain’s big clubs – particularly Real Madrid, regularly linked with Sterling, 23. Especially as he has still to agree a new contract and has only 20 months remaining on his current deal. City are optimistic that an agreement can still be reached and hope to have it done soon. If that does not happen and there is still nothing sorted at the end of the season, the Premier League champions would seriously have to consider selling Sterling, as he would then be going into the final year of his contract. The former Liverpool man is understood to be on around

£170k a week and seeking a new deal at

£275k – placing him in a similar financial bracket to Kevin De Bruyne. Sterling is also being linked with Paris Saint-Germain, but a compromise could be struck between the club and the player at around £225k a week, including bonuses. PAUL HETHERINGTON DUNDEE
