New chief gunning for perfect 10

- Last five meetings Overall record

UNAI EMERY is on the verge of a major personal best as Arsenal aim to make it 10 wins on the spin with victory over Leicester.

Never before in his career has the Gunners boss overseen a perfect 10-out-of-10 winning sequence.

Arsenal’s current scorching run of nine on the bounce in all competitions has already equalled Emery’s previous best – achieved at Paris Saint-Germain between March and April 2017.

Yet when asked about the chance to break his own record tomorrow – and if he could recall a triumphant roll of similar magnitude at his previous clubs – the ex-Valencia and Sevilla coach said: “Usually, I want to break my statistics in terms of wins and also best performances.

“But for now I don’t look behind. I only look forward and focus on Leicester.

“Our weakness is if we look back at the past – and don’t do all of our work to continue winning.”

If the Gunners do take three points tomorrow, Emery will be three games off equalling Arsene Wenger’s longest winning sequence of 13 (11 at the end of 01-02 and two at the start of 02-03) – and just four short of the all-time club record of 14, achieved under George Graham in the 1987-88 season.

If they are to create history it will be with wins against the Foxes, Sporting Lisbon, Crystal Palace, Blackpool and then finally

Liverpool.

Not that Emery is taking anything for granted.

He said: “If we start thinking that it’s easy, then that is also a weakness.”
