O’Brien KO blow

- ■ by

TOUGH NUT: Makinson BRENDAN KEANE Ireland 28 Argentina 17

TOMAS LAVANINI broke Sean O’Brien’s arm – but it was Ireland who broke Argentine hearts as they extended their unbeaten run at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium to 10 matches.

Nicolas Sanchez kicked two early penalties for Argentina before wing Batuista Delguy crossed in the corner to make it 11-5.

Ireland’s try came nine minutes earlier from Kieran Marmion and Bundee Aki finally finished off a powerful move for their second.

Sub Luke McGrath crossed to put Ireland 25-17 ahead and four minutes from time Johnny Sexton landed an easy penalty to stretch the lead to 11 points as thoughts turned to the showdown with the All Blacks on Saturday.

But O’Brien will not be there to face them after his accidental clash with Lavanini forced him off.
