DAVID IS SILVA’S CITY IDOL

- ■ by STEVE MILLAR

BERNARDO SILVA is learning the tricks of the trade from Man City namesake David Silva.

The duo know a win over neighbours United this afternoon would leave their rivals a mountain to climb in the title race.

Champions City are currently nine points ahead of United which Bernardo believes is a healthy lead in the battle for Premier League bragging rights.

But he feels the Blues going 12 points in front with a victory in The Etihad derby today would leave Jose Mourinho with another impossible title dream.

Bernardo, 24, says he is learning so much from David, who is eight years older and wiser.

He said: “I think David is probably having his best season ever. Of course you can learn from David.

“He is probably one of the best midfielders over the last 20 years.”

Bernardo failed to mention United when he named the four biggest threats to City’s dream of back-to-back titles – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.

Asked why he had not picked United, the Portugal ace said: “Looking from this point, if they are already nine points behind it will be a little more difficult for them to play for the title than probably Liverpool, Chelsea, City or even Spurs or Arsenal.

“So that was the point

– not because United are not a very good team.

“It’s because they are nine points behind and it is a little more difficult.

“We will try to win the game, not only to have a bigger distance but to try to keep the first position.”
