3 C Palace JOSE MOURINHO challenged Paul Pogba to match the spirit and fight shown by his team-mates if he is to force his way back into his good books. United’s £89million midfielder was an unused substitute as United ripped through Fulham in front of an appreciative Old Trafford yesterday afternoon. And the United boss insisted his club-record signing has a point to prove when he makes a first start in three matches against Valencia in the Champions League on Wednesday.
“He has to play with the same mentality as the team is playing,” said Mourinho when asked what the midfielder had to do to get back in the side. “Paul can be a fantastic player, he has the potential to be a fantastic player.
“Against Valencia he is going to start and have a fantastic football game to play and to show everybody how good he is.”
United moved into sixth place in the table with the 4-1 victory that delighted Mourinho (right).
He added: “The players have shown they can be a better team. At times it was beautiful football. The first half was perfect. We were really good. We needed it.”
