Canaries ride their Pukk in ‘crazy’ win

- By ARINDAM REJ

NORWICH boss Daniel Farke believes his team were pure “Hollywood” again after they scripted a stunning last-gasp win that he called “crazy”.

Cash-strapped Bolton had equalised in the 88th minute to cap a comeback from 2-0 down before they had Sammy Ameobi sent off.

Bolton’s players are in need of PFA assistance to get paid, but their 10 men were helpless when Teemu Pukki snatched victory for leaders Norwich.

“It’s unbelievable spirit,” said Farke. “To win this game is a bit like Hollywood so I’m not interested in talking about mistakes.

“I’m interested in talking about how crazy this was, how brilliant these lads are.

“In Hollywood you have to fight against setbacks and this was one of those stories.”

Bolton looked like they could have turned this into a horror movie for Norwich as Phil Parkinson’s men quickly took the game to their promotion-chasing opponents.

Farke’s side eventually settled down though and forced Bolton to retreat.

Norwich’s breakthrough came in the 39th minute when Mario Vrancic fired in from the edge of the box.

Bolton tried to fight back early in the second half but they suffered another blow in the 59th minute when Marco Stiepermann struck.

Parkinson’s men did not just cave in, though, rapidly pulling a goal back when Ameobi drilled in from six yards.

The thrilling finale began unfolding when Mark Beevers bundled in at the back post.

Ameobi had a penalty claim turned down and received a second yellow card in injury time for pulling back Tom Cantwell.

Bolton hearts were broken when the free-kick given away by Ameobi led to Pukki’s volleyed winner.

Parkinson said: “It is cruel. This result is a hard one to take. It hurts.

“To give Sammy a second yellow is harsh. He’s been pushed over for a penalty and how the referee and linesman don’t see it is frustrating.”
