Wijnaldum: Milner better than Messi and Ronaldo

FORGET Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or even Luka Modric – according to Gini Wijnaldum it is James Milner who is the best player in the world.

Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum reckons there is no more versatile footballer in the game than his Liverpool team-mate, 32 (left).

And before the Reds’ Champions League clash with Napoli on Tuesday, Wijnaldum said: “Which player in the world can you play in every position in a team and he will do really well in all of those positions?

“There is no one, apart from Milner.

“He has played in so many different roles and he is always brilliant. That’s why I rate him among the very best at the top.”

Wijnaldum says Milner’s versatility is simpy stunning.

He added: “Wherever the boss puts him on the pitch he will always be better than his opponent and will always do a great job for the team.

“That is an amazing quality. What Milner is capable of at this level I have never seen other players do.

“He will always get great marks no matter what position our manager puts him in.

“Some players can get frustrated when they have to switch positions.

“But with Milner you will never see a mood swing. His attitude just stays the same.”
