Everton’s Premier League fixture against Watford tomorrow evening will see the launch of All Together Now – the club’s campaign to celebrate and promote positive equality and diversity for all.

The poor family of four were living in a rented one-room property on the tough streets of Guachene, just outside the Colombian city of Cali, desperatel­y making ends meet.

And with that in his mind Mina said to mum Marianela: “Listen mum, I am going to build a house for you one day. I am also going to make sure that you will be fed from the hand of God.”

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game with Watford at Goodison Park, Mina said: “I just wanted her to know that in the future it would be better, that she would have a good home and eat fine food. And my mum started to cry again.”

Ten years on from that emotional vow, Mina has been true to his word after finding brief fame at Barcelona before his £27million summer move to Everton.
