Rolf’s girl in bid to clear his name

PLAN FOR MAKING A MURDERER-STYLE DOC

- EXCLUSIVE by FELICITY CROSS

ROLF Harris’ daughter is working on a documentary in a bid to prove the TV entertainer’s innocence.

Bindi Nicholls, 54, has stood by her disgraced dad who served three years for indecently assaulting four girls.

And she has told friends of her plan to copy the show Making A Murderer to highlight what she sees as flaws in his convictions.

The Netflix series followed convicted murderer Steven Avery who long protested his innocence. Bindi thinks Aussie-born Harris, 88, could have his case examined in the same way.

A family source told the Daily Star Sunday: “Bindi thinks a docu-series would totally blow apart the case against her dad.

“She has told us there is new and previously unheard evidence.

“A publisher is unlikely to help but the hope is that the content will pick up enough interest online to attract a lawyer who specialises in this sort of thing.

“Bindi has been inspired since she first saw the show last year.

“She thinks her dad’s case would get even more public support than the thousands who supported the Making A Murderer campaign.”

In notes seen by the Daily Star Sunday, Bindi shares her ideas. She discusses her father’s attitude to sex, the brand of comedy that was common in his 70s heyday, and what she sees as holes in the prosecution case brought against him.

Documentary footage and interviews with Harris’ family, friends and previous lawyers were filmed at the star’s home in Bray, Berks, this summer.

The key material is said to involve testimonies from female models and actresses who had previously posed for talented painter Harris.

Our source added: “It’s all about awareness at this stage – bringing the public in line with what the family have been trying to say ever since the news first broke that Rolf was being investigated.

“They’ve already overturned one of his four convictions. They’re now hoping to open up the circumstances of the other three.

“‘It’s going to be a hard sell to be honest, especially given the current climate, but they are sure that this will be the thing that turns the whole case around.”

Bindi lost her relationship with the father of her son over her support for the TV sex pest.

Since his release, Harris has maintained a low profile and has spent much of his time caring for his ailing wife Alwen, 85.

It is not clear when Bindi plans to release her work.
