Shea showed he’s class act

LUTON TOWN goalkeeper James Shea ensured his side was in the hat for the fourth round draw after a string of fine saves secured a replay in a goalless draw at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Shea was outstanding with saves either side of half-time as the League One high-fliers earned a second bite of the cherry.

And although Hatters’ boss Nathan Jones is targeting promotion, he is hoping for a big name in tomorrow’s draw to act as an extra incentive ahead of the replay.

He said: “I thought it was a well deserved result. It was an excellent game, we tried to be positive and didn’t come to park the bus. I am very proud of how we played.”

The visitors were backed by more than 4,000 travelling fans who didn’t have too much to cheer in the first half, only a shot from distance from Luke Berry which was comfortably held by Cameron Dawson.

Shea was keeping Luton in the game and he produced an excellent save to tip another fierce Matias effort over the bar in the 55th minute.

With Steve Bruce not taking over at Sheffield Wednesday until February, his assistant Steve Agnew was in caretaker charge.

And he admits that they have plenty to work on.

He said: “We had the chances and we are disappointed not to have won the game.”
