HOLLYWOOD stars are fleeing Tinseltown because of a spate of robberies after the California wildfires.
A string of A-list celebrities have said they want to sell their multimillion-pound homes after the area was hit by burglars, looters and even “pirates”.
The Daily Star Sunday can reveal Halle Berry is the latest star to threaten to quit the area after her beachfront mansion was targeted.
Thieves raided the
£6.3million property using a boat after the Oscar-winning actress and her two young children were among
295,000 residents ordered to leave.
Police believe they managed to flee across the sea with artworks, jewellery and “other valuables” worth tens of thousands of dollars as local firefighters battled close by to contain the inferno.
Now sources close to Halle – who lives in a mansion off California’s famous Pacific Coast Highway with daughter Nahla, 10, and five-year-old son Maleo – believe she may decide to sell up and move.
One said yesterday: “It was terrifying enough having to flee the fire.
“But even though Halle has got a security staff that shadow her and the kids wherever they go, she no longer feels safe.”
The entire neighbourhood was devastated by the Woolsey Fire, which claimed three lives, torched almost 97,000 acres and destroyed the homes of actor Gerard Butler and singers Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke. Meanwhile, Rihanna is selling her Hollywood Hills home after being burgled for the second time in seven months. Police have arrested four alleged gang members after the latest break-in at the singer’s mansion, which she has now listed at £5.9m – well below the market value of £6.6m estimated by real estate website Trulia.
The so-called “bling-ring” gang used social media to work out when victims, including the Barbadian singer and Christina Milian, would be out. Other celebrities including hip-hop star Nicki Minaj and country singers Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have also been victims of burglars.
