Philip’s role is a bit of a stretch

-

LESLEY Sharp has roped TV tough guy Philip Glenister into trying yoga.

The actress is such a fan of it she convinced producers to include a scene at a class.

Viewers will see their characters Jen and Mel being put through their paces in the new series – with hilarious results.

An insider said: “Lesley does yoga regularly so she was keen for it to be incorporated into the show.

“It isn’t Philip’s cup of tea, but he was happy to get involved and give it a go. It made for a very funny scene.”

There will also be plenty of drama when Mal decides he needs a gun to protect his family.

Philip said: “There are some new neighbours this series who smoke a lot of dope.”

Lesley added: “The family are running up against stuff in this series. The initial idea of having an adventure turns into them having to learn about employment laws.

“Mal sacks Jen and she goes back to being a physio. But it’s not done in a serious way. One of the great things about this show is it’s a positive depiction of a middle-aged relationship. We don’t explore the negative aspects.

“It’s about a couple who really like each other and go the extra mile for each other.”

US star Leslie Jordan is also back as Aiden.

Philip said: “He has some great stories – none of which I could repeat!”

Watch it on Tuesday at 9pm on Sky One.
