Daily Star Sunday - - FRONT PAGE - By ED GLEAVE

GEMMA Atkinson wants to prove to the nation that getting in shape doesn’t have to be hell.

The actress, 34, has never looked back since overhauling her diet and starting a fitness regime years ago.

She loves doing the tough exercises that keeps her so toned.

And she reckons if fans follow her lead they will find it easier to stay fit for longer.

Gemma said: “I’ve been guilty of trying fad diets in the past to get in shape for a holiday. But it’s about making a lifestyle change.

“Strictly was a time when I relaxed my diet a lot because I was dancing. I did put quite a lot of weight on but I was happy and I loved it.

“And as soon as the show finished, I knew that within two or three weeks I’d get back to feeling my best.

“When you know what to do, it’s not an instant panic to lose weight. It’s about making small changes.”

The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star is offering her fans the chance to follow in her footsteps with her book The Ultimate Body Plan, inset.

Gemma added: “I wanted to do a book where it’s about getting to a certain stage mentally.”
