IT has been several months since the last terrorist atrocity in this country.

That means our spies must be doing a sterling job at foiling the jihadis intent on destroying lives.

Don’t think for a second, however, that the threat is receding.

Our exclusive story today – on a plot to poison Princess Kate’s food – is a vital reminder terrorists are still out there, looking for new ways to wreak devastation.

So while we pay tribute to our intelligence and security officers for preventing recent attacks, we know they cannot relax for a moment. Neither can the public.

The war on terrorism is one that will never be conclusively won.

But we must ensure that we are always winning.
