CORRIE star Katie McGlynn has dropped a hint her character Sinead Tinker will survive cancer.

Katie, 25, revealed she has just signed a new contract – which means she will stay on the ITV soap until at least spring 2020.

Viewers feared Sinead would be killed off after she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cervical cancer.

Katie revealed:

“I’m going to be here until next year. It’s a longrunning story.

“If I get to stay longer it will be amazing because Sinead is a great character.”

Sinead learned she had cancer last autumn in emotional scenes.

Since then, doctors have warned she could lose her baby, so she was forced to give birth three months early. This week we’ll see her leave hospital for the first time and bring her new child home.

Katie has worked with charity Mummy’s Star for her moving cancer storyline. She said: “I met a lady who had cancer while she was pregnant.

“It was interesting to know what they were feeling throughout it all. “It gave me insights and aspects you wouldn’t think of. I’ve just tried to imagine that Sinead’s story is real.”

Katie, inset, is hoping the plot will raise awareness of support that is available for cancer sufferers.

She added: “Women going through this need to know that there are charities like Mummy’s Star that can help and that they are not on their own.

“So many women are affected by cancer during pregnancy, but it’s one of those subjects that nobody really hears about.

“I want to raise more awareness to the public so they know that, whatever decision they make, they shouldn’t blame themselves. There’s so many different opinions.

“They need to know whatever decision they make is what is best for them.

“Not everyone wants to watch a touchy storyline like this, but I do think it’s important as it helps to make the public more aware and know that help is out there.” THE VOICE UK coaches are feeling the pressure ahead of the live shows. Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am hope to guide one of their acts to victory. But pop star Olly, 34, is worried he’ll let his team down. He said: “I’ve got to raise my game.” The live shows begin on Saturday on ITV.
