TV is only pal for us sad Brits

-

BRITS spend more than 50 full days watching telly by themselves every year.

The average Brit watches three-and-a-half hours of TV on their tod every day,

That works out at 24.5 hours a week and 1,274 hours a year – that’s 53 days over a year.

Just over two-thirds of Brits put the TV on for “company”.

A thousand people were quizzed on their viewing habits in a poll for Rotary International.

It also found 31% put the radio on for company, with 27% often speaking to their pet cat, dog, bird or fish.

And 7% admitted asking Alexa or Siri a question just to hear a voice.

A total of 14% admitted that they went shopping just so they could speak to someone, with 6% saying they booked an appointment with their GP just so they could chat.

The study found 47% were often lonely, with 41% feeling worse in the evenings – and 6% feeling lonely “all the time”. FLIES stay away from zebras because of their stripes.

Scientists dressed a number of horses in striped rugs and observed how insects acted around them compared with those horses not in costume.

Flies landed on striped ones far less often.

The stripes seem to confuse the pests, meaning they either overshoot the landing completely or bump into the animal.
