Car chase could spell end of road for Julien

-

VIEWERS are being warned tonight could be the last we see of Julien Baptiste.

In a dramatic finale, the detective’s life is put in danger during a high-speed car chase.

And in another scene he collapses after being shot.

Writer Harry Williams says he has never been scared to kill off the show’s leading man, played by Tcheky Karyo.

He said: “It’s always been a possibility that Baptiste could die. It’s something we’ve always talked about doing.

“I love shows where you really don’t know what’s going to happen. And we always try to achieve that with our scripts.

“We want viewers to be excited. That’s the thrill of a great show.”

Co-writer Jack Williams added: “There are some surprises in the finale. It’s emotional.”

We first saw Baptiste in hit drama The Missing, which ran for two series. He was so popular with viewers, he was put at the centre of his own spin-off show.

This series Baptiste and Genevieve Taylor, played by Jessica Raine, have been hunting down a sex trafficking gang.

The show has been watched by six million viewers but the BBC has not revealed whether there will be another series, meaning tonight could be its final outing.

Harry and Jack have pulled out all the stops to make the finale gripping TV, hiring a specialist stunt team for the car chase.

Harry said: “You need action to give a show an edge. Having excitement and thrills in there is part of the fun.”

Jack added: “You need to see how dangerous the organisation are. His family are in danger and you want to shake it up a bit.”
