Battle at bedtime
CHECKING smartphones before going to sleep is turning the nation’s beds into a combat zone.
Research reveals more than half the nation (55%) regularly use the devices in bed – and 15% admit that it is their worst night-time habit.
Not only are smartphones leading to poor sleep, but they are also causing arguments, pushing couples to sleep separately or even divorce.
The survey of 2,000 Brits, by personalised pillow firm Nanu, revealed a third of couples argue over tech in bed, with social media
(30%), checking emails
(11%), playing games (11%) and reading gossip sites
(6%) the major causes. Spokesman Justin Young said: “Couples should attempt to personalise their sleep environment without disrupting the routine of their partner.” CHARLES W-PALMER Shadow, who is now one of eight. Holly’s dad Andrew, 46, said: “I thought it would be hard to improve on last season’s results for Holly, but this season has been even better.” Holly has competed in Sweden twice, Slovakia and Germany, on top of countless races in Britain. She said: “After falling in love with the sport three or four years ago, I now want to be the best I can be.”
This season alone she has claimed the top junior prize in Britain for racing with two dogs, a bronze in the European championships, a gold and silver at the World Dryland Championship and a bronze at the
World Snow Championship.
