SAT-NAV ADDICTS

- EXCLUSIVE by CHARLES WADE-PALMER

MOST drivers aged 18 to 24 use sat-nav even when they are driving to familiar places, a survey by the car sharing app Drivy found.

THE Sex Pistols will be the next band to feature in a major film.

Bohemian Rhapsody – the Queen story – has made more than £600million at the box office and won four Oscars. The Elton John biopic Rocket Man hits screens in May, and Mötley Crüe’s debauched rise and fall has been profiled in The Dirt, now on Netflix.

A Beatles movie is also in the pipeline. Filmmaker Ayesha Plunkett hopes to bring out her Sex Pistols film next year. Ayesha, from Starlight Films, said: “We were impressed by the box office takings for Bohemian Rhapsody.

“It only goes to show the public has an appetite for these films.” Starlight has been working on its punk movie for 18 months. Ayesha said her team are now looking at casting.

She said: “We have a wish list for the two main cast members, playing Vivienne Westwood and manager Malcolm McLaren.” The Sex Pistols were at the forefront of Britain’s punk movement in the late 1970s but split in 1978. Bassist Sid Vicious died of a heroin overdose in February 1979, soon after being arrested for the alleged murder of his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. Starlight think the roller-coaster story of the band – fronted by John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten – will make for great viewing. Movie insiders were surprised when last year’s documentary about 80s pop act Bros became a smash hit. Though Daily Star Sunday film editor Andy Lea says he can’t see the Sex Pistols film having the same appeal. He said: “More rock biopics are inevitable, but the Sex Pistols one seems much trickier as their music has never had a broad appeal.

“It’s hard to imagine families belting out Pretty Vacant at their local cinema. “That said, it’s a story full of big characters and tragedy. John Lydon probably hates it already, but if it makes a third of the profit of the Queen movie its backers will be delighted.” Starlight Films won’t be the first to have a go at bringing the Sex Pistols to the big screen.

The Great Rock ’N’ Roll Swindle in 1980 was followed six years later by Sid And Nancy starring Gary Oldman.
