‘TRAGEDY CHANGED ALL OF US’

-

THE Leicester helicopter disaster has put life into perspective for Harry Maguire.

Foxes owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was one of five people who died as his helicopter crashed in the car park at the King Power Stadium after the game with West Ham last October.

Grief swept over the club – and Maguire admits the disaster has had an effect.

He said: “Obviously it’s probably affected our season more than us players know ourselves.

“It’s been a difficult season for ourselves especially off the pitch. But you just have to really take to it and get on with it.

“You never know what is around the corner. And you have to take every day as it comes. Keep improving, keep working hard and see where it takes you.

“Obviously it was a tough time for us players and everyone at the club. The atmosphere wasn’t great for months but the lads got on with it, they were superb.”

Maguire has revealed that some stars underwent trauma counselling – but he dealt with the tragedy in his own way.

He added: “I got on with it myself but there were a lot of lads that did get help.

“There are lads that’ve been there eight or 10 years who were really close to him.

“Everyone grieves in a different way. The club handled it really well.”
