HEAD START: Eddie Jones is set to hire a psychologist before the World Cup

DANNY CARE has told England fans not to panic as he is

Eddie Jones’ men will get it right when it matters in Japan.

CONVINCED

The scrum-half, 32, believes they can lift the Webb Ellis Cup despite their Six Nations meltdown.

Care (below) is hoping to win back his place in the squad by the time Jones names his World Cup picks at the end of the summer.

He admits he was shocked by the alarming second-half collapse against Scotland last Saturday which saw England resemble potential world champions one moment and real chumps the next.

Yet Care is certainly not joining the doommongers who insist the alarm bells are ringing for the team with the World Cup just six months away.

The Harlequins No.9 said: “England fans should be very positive about what they have seen over the past seven weeks or so. They have seen a team who can beat anyone on their day.

“I am very hopeful and confident that England can go to Japan and do some special things.

“People are just talking and thinking about the second-half nightmare against Scotland but the bigger picture is what they did to Ireland, what they did to France and what they did in the first halves against Wales and Scotland. “The potential is massive and they will be mentally hardened by the lessons learned in Cardiff and at Twickenham. “The biggest lesson to learn is how to manage games when you are in full control with a big lead.” Worried boss Jones is considering turning to a psychologist to try to toughen up his players. The Aussie is vowing to do everything he can at the squad’s end-of-season camp to “fix” any hang-ups ahead of travelling to Japan. And Care said: “The clock is ticking towards the World Cup. It may be six months away but there are only four warm-up games beforehand. “However, you would much prefer these problems now than in the pool stages. There is time to fix things. “Eddie says he knows what needs doing and that’s what the World Cup camp in the summer will be about. “There are clearly things to work on but, for me, you do not want to peak now. Wales seem to be peaking now but have they peaked too soon?”
