who is the best. But I think Ederson has got a bit more nous with regard to the Premier League.

“Don’t forget it is other lad’s first season and he has made a couple of mistakes.

“I thought he could have done better with the goal at Fulham last week.

“You can’t afford to make that many between now and the end of the season because it could come down to that.

“I still think the Premier League is the hardest for goalkeepers due to the cut and thrust.

“But it’s great for Manchester City, who are the kind of team which likes to play out from the back.”

Corrigan was one of the stars who attended the Thursday night premiere of The Keeper, a the film based on the life of Man City’s Bert Trautmann. He said: “I think Trautmann was the benchmark for all goalkeepers in the old First Division. That was because of his quality as a man. Not only as a goalkeeper but as a person.

“He was a giant in the goalkeeping sense, very brave, great hands and great agility. “He was a true legend.” Fellow Man City veteran Mike Summerbee also cast his eye over the men with the gloves who are set to play such a key role in the destiny of the title.

The former wing ace is particularly impressed with City stopper Ederson. Summerbee, who was quick to play down his former club’s much-hyped possible Quadruple, said: “The goalkeeper we have got now is fantastic. He could be an outfield player but that is the way the game of football is today.

“This Manchester City side are on the verge of doing something special.

“Of course, it’s a special squad – we know that.

“They proved it last season. City have got a fantastic squad of players.

“I watch them like you and I stand there in awe of these players.

“All through the squad they can play, control the ball, pass the ball. As simple as that.

“They are on the verge of being able to complete what they want to complete.

“I’m not going to say we are going to do this, do that.

“At the end of the day we have got a squad of players who can do it. But it’s going to be very, very difficult. It’s not easy.”
