(COMIC DAWSON’S) SOMEONE I LOVED

- EXCLUSIVE by ED GLEAVE

CHART sensation Lewis Capaldi wants to play lookalike Les Dawson in a movie. The star, 23, has told pals it would be a dream come true to be the comic in a film about his life.

Lewis – who had a massive hit with Someone You Loved – has been told he’s the spit of the late Les. Now he wants to make the most of it.

A close pal said: “Lewis is a massive fan of Les. He’s loved him for years and he’s convinced he’d be the perfect person to play him on the big screen.

“When a biopic is made of his life, Lewis is hoping he’ll get the chance to do it. He’s not kidding, he’s deadly serious.

“He’s been telling lots of influential people in the industry in the hope he’ll be considered when the time comes.” Lewis already has the backing of showbiz pals. They reckon he looks just like Les – and, crucially, that he can pull off the comic’s famous gurn.

Our source added: “Many of Lew’s pals think he is the spitting image of Les. One has joked he thinks Lewis is the reincarnation of the comic. His gurning skills are up to scratch, too. It’s so funny.”

Les was one of TV’s biggest stars in the 70s and 80s thanks to his loveable personality and sharp wit. There are regular calls for a biopic about him to be made.

His life will be remembered in television series Urban Myths on Sky Arts. Actors John Bradley and Mark Addy share the role of Les. The project has had support from Les’ daughter Charlotte, 27. She said: “It’s amazing that they’re recognising my dad, not just for his comedic talents.”
