Klopp’s shock is clear

- WHAT DID CITY DO WRONG? ARE THEY GOING TO APPEAL?

According to UEFA, City overstated sponsorship revenues between 2012 and 2016 in a bid to meet Financial Fair Play regulations. They reached their conclusion after an investigation into City based on hacked emails published in a German publication.

Yes. City will take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne. The appeal will be heard by three people – one appointed by UEFA, one by City and an independent arbitrator appointed by CAS.

City claim the emails on which UEFA’s findings are based were illegally accessed and taken out of context. They insist they have evidence that will blow the decision apart.

JURGEN KLOPP has offered rival boss Pep Guardiola his sympathies over Manchester City’s two-year ban from European football.

UEFA handed down the punishment on Friday night and the Liverpool manager was still in shock after his team beat Norwich.

Following the 1-0 win, Klopp said: “It was a shock. Complete wow. The only thing I can say is about football.

“What they have done on the football pitch is exceptional. The rest, I don’t know. You believe the people you work with, that’s how it is.

“I really feel for them, Pep Guardiola and the players but that is how it is.

“They can appeal so we will see what happens then. It is obviously serious. But the football they played was exceptional and will always be exceptional.”

Liverpool will dethrone City as champions of England in the coming weeks and extended their lead to a staggering 25 points with victory in East Anglia.

While Sadio Mane took the headlines with his match-winning strike, Klopp singled out goalkeeper Alisson for ‘special’ praise.

The Brazil stopper, who made one tremendous save at Carrow Road, has now kept 10 clean sheets in 18 Premier League matches this season.

Klopp said: “He helped us so often, it’s good, but we pay him for that, actually!”

Jordan Henderson added: “They caused us a few problems but I thought it was another good performance.”
