Bruce hopes everything is Rosey after Jan switch

-

DANNY ROSE is “England’s left-back” according to new manager Steve Bruce and will prove he’s got the hunger to get back to the top after being ditched by Jose Mourinho.

The defender, 29, has had a tough few months after being dropped at Spurs, having an alleged training ground bust-up with Mourinho and being savaged by Roy Keane for his last England performance.

But Newcastle boss Bruce has ordered Rose to relaunch his career on Tyneside, starting with a trip to Arsenal this afternoon, and hopefully ending with a place in Gareth Southgate’s Euros squad this summer.

He’s started twice for England this season, the last time in October’s defeat to the Czechs in which Keane claimed he was at fault for their winner.

Keane said: “Rose gave a performance that was shocking, abysmal.

“Someone needs to get a hold of that guy. I think he’ll be the same in 3-4 years. Some players don’t learn from their mistakes.”

Just last May, Rose (below) played a big part in Spurs’ run to the Champions League Final and he was well within Southgate’s plans for the Euros.

His move to St. James’ Park came about after he saw Jetro Willems get injured and Rose was straight on the phone to his agent.

After joining the Magpies, the defender turned down the chance to have a winter break, choosing to focus on his fitness.

Bruce described his arrival as “a coup” for the club, and said he can enjoy his loan spell which could start with a place in the starting line-up this afternoon.

The Magpies boss said: “I don’t have to explain what Danny Rose is. He’s England’s left-back in many people’s eyes.

“He’s desperate to go to the Euros so hopefully we’ll see the best of him.

“Roy is entitled to his opinion, like we all are, but I think we’ve got a really, really talented left-back through the door.

“We’ve added quality. I hope that he’s been one of the better deals during the transfer window, certainly for a club like ours to get England’s left-back.

“Things weren’t hunky dory at Spurs two or three weeks before.

“You’re always monitoring a situation like that.

“What helped enormously was Danny being a northern lad and also that he wants to play.”
