TOT’S PLACE OF BIRTH IS JUNCTION 16 ON M60
BABY Jasper Taylor has got a motorway junction listed as his birthplace.
Hannah Pickup and her partner Matthew Taylor were heading to hospital after she went into labour.
But their son arrived mid-way through the journey.
Hannah, 34, had to deliver him herself in the front passenger seat of their Jeep Renegade as they neared junction
16 on the M60 near Manchester.
And the tot has the location officially recorded on his birth certificate.
Hannah remembers yelling, “We’re not going to make it” as they drove down the foggy motorway.
She only had two contractions before little Jasper appeared.
She said: “I looked at the junction and thought, ‘We’re still 10 minutes away.’ Then all of a sudden he was out.
“It all happened so quickly, we didn’t have time to panic.
“I didn’t know what to do, but my natural instinct took over. “Bizarrely, everything was quite calm.” Hannah clutched her son to her chest with his umbilical cord still attached. The veterinary nurse said: “He started crying and breathing so I knew he was OK.”
Matthew, 37, had no idea what to do so just kept driving.
The new family eventually arrived at the Ingleside Maternity Unit, in Salford, Lancs, where medics were waiting.
By they time they got there, Hannah hadn’t even checked the sex of her new baby who was born on January 19.
Nurses weighed him in at a healthy 9lb
2oz and Mum and Dad took him home to Ramsbottom, Lancs, that night.
