- By ISOBEL DICKINSON

CARRIE Symonds shows off her baby bump for the first time since going public about her pregnancy.

Her engagement ring was also on display as she and husband-to-be Boris Johnson met guests at an event for International Women’s Day held at 10 Downing Street.

The former Tory press officer was all smiles wearing a patterned maxi dress from Anthropologie.

Boris, 55, and Carrie, 31, spoke to teenage girls invited from high schools across the country including Tauheedul Islam Girls High School in Blackburn.

They also chatted with environmental activist Lizzie Carr who is using paddle-boarding to campaign against plastic pollution in Britain’s rivers.

THE coronavirus outbreak will peak at Easter and be here until Christmas, experts warn.

More than 21,000 people in the UK have been tested for the virus so far, with

206 testing positive.

Medics said Covid-19 is spreading at an “alarming rate” after jumping by 42 cases in 24 hours.

And experts warned the deadly bug could be here to the end of the year.

Microbiologist Peter Piot said: “I’m often asked whether the threat is being overhyped. The answer, to me, is no.

“This is the real thing. I think we will go to the peak of the epidemic somewhere around Easter.” He warned chaos could continue for another six months after that – with millions of people infected. Dr Piot added: “If it goes down in April or May it could come back again in November.” The news comes as panic buying spread, with shops and supermarket shelves left bare.

This week a Reading woman in her seventies and an

88-year-old grandad in Milton Keynes were the first British victims to die in the UK. The man, who had got pre-existing health conditions, died on Friday just an hour after testing positive.

Britain is bracing itself for more deaths as ministers draw up drastic “delay” measures – including potentially axing events, working from home and closing schools.

On Friday, the Government revealed a

£46million package to help develop a coronavirus vaccine and faster testing.

Two British Airways baggage handlers working at Heathrow Airport are among the latest people to test positive. And a ward at Watford General Hospital, Herts, was evacuated after a patient was confirmed to be infected

Sir Patrick Vallance, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government, warned Britain was at the start of an outbreak.

He said: “We’ve got a reasonable worst-case scenario…that involves 80% of the population and we think the mortality rate is 1% or lower. I expect it to be less than that.”

Yesterday, a football fan, inset top, was spotted wearing a facemask during Liverpool’s game with Bournemouth.

And actress Dame Joan Collins, inset bottom, tweeted a picture of herself wearing a mask at Los Angeles airport.
