WICKED Karen Matthews is set to become a mum again.
The fiend, who faked her own daughter Shannon’s kidnap, is expecting a child with her fiancé Paul Saunders – using a surrogate mum. Matthews, 45, turned to the mystery woman two months ago and she has now had two positive pregnancy tests. The baby – which will be biologically Paul’s but raised by both of them – is due in the autumn.
A source said: “Karen is over the moon. She is desperate to have a little baby to raise again.
“When they got the call she couldn’t believe it. But the surrogate did another test just to be on the safe side.”
The baby was conceived after convicted paedophile Paul slept with the surrogate with Karen’s blessing.
The tot will be Karen’s stepchild. Our source added: “She wants to be a mummy again so much.
“In her eyes it’s the only way of having a baby without people taking photos of her pregnant, and it will be worth it to save her body.”
The warped couple are thought to be paying £1,000 to the mystery woman – who is an old friend – for any costs she incurs during the pregnancy. Matthews got engaged to handyman Saunders, 57, four months ago.
He was jailed for five years in 2010 for the sexual abuse of a girl aged just 15.
He was then re-arrested on suspicion of breaching his parole after his engagement to
Matthews was revealed, but he was later released.
Matthews and her then-partner’s uncle Michael Donovan were jailed for staging Shannon’s abduction in a bid to pocket reward money 12 years ago.
Donovan, now 51, kept the youngster drugged in his flat in Dewsbury, West Yorks, for 24 days.
When police raided it they found Shannon hidden inside a divan bed.
Donovan and Matthews were each jailed for eight years after being convicted of kidnapping, false imprisonment and perverting justice.
Matthews was freed in 2012 after serving just four years behind bars.
