A SELF-proclaimed holy man’s “miracle kissing cure” for coronavirus was rubbished after he died from the bug and helped to spread it among his followers in Ratlam, India.

A HOTEL has banned tubby people as they keep breaking the “elegant” designer chairs in Cuxhaven, Germany.

A LAWYER who acted in court Christian Brueckner fears that paedophile took Madeleine McCann.

Serafim Vieira, who represented him in a criminal case, thinks the German has “psychopathic traits”

Asked if suspect Brueckner could have snatched the British youngster, he replied: “I believe he may be behind the disappearance of Maddie.”

Mr Vieira acted for Brueckner in 2006 after he was arrested for stealing diesel from HGVs in the Algarve.

During the court hearing, Brueckner admitted his secret paedophile past – a year before Madeleine disappeared.

Brueckner told a judge he served 18 months in prison for a sex attack on a youngster in his homeland when he was a teen.

The revelation that authorities knew of his conviction has piled further pressure on Portuguese officials.

A police source had previously said Brueckner was never quizzed because they did not know he was a sex offender.

But official documents show he publicly revealed his past offences in court before Madeleine vanished. Mr Vieira, right, told Portugal’s RTP TV channel that for the he thinks Brueckner may have been responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance.

Asked if the German did not have a psychopathic temperament, he replied: “I can’t say he didn’t. On the contrary.”

And of the claims Brueckner was involved in Madeleine’s disappearance, he said: “I’m not surprised.”

Brueckner was caught stealing fuel from HGVs in Portimao with an Austrian drifter, Michael Tatschl, in April 2006.

At their first court appearance in the Algarve town, the then 29-year-old Brueckner came clean about his past. He told Judge Antonieta Nascimento he was 17 when he was convicted of thefts and sexual offences in his home country. Brueckner, now 43, molested a sixyear-old girl in a playground in the town of Wurzburg, Bavaria, in 1994. Mr Vieira said the German was held on remand for eight months because he refused to give his address in court.

At the time of his arrest he is said to have been living in a rented ramshackle farmhouse in the hills outside Praia da Luz, the resort Madeleine where vanished.

But in court he claimed to live in a camper van at a German-owned scrap yard in the hamlet of Barrocal.

Authorities in Germany stunned the world a fortnight ago by announcing the Brueckner probe, 13 years after Maddie vanished aged three while on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry.

Potential DNA evidence from a rape linked to Brueckner was destroyed on the orders of Portuguese prosecutors.

Mum-of-two Hazel Behan waived her right to anonymity last week to say she believed a masked man who targeted her in her Algarve apartment in 2004 could have been the German sex offender.

Ms Behan, who is from Ireland, said the Metropolitan Police had told her they were taking her case very seriously.
