Ace Vardy goes potty for plants

-

JAMIE Vardy reckons he has gone “overboard” with gardening in lockdown.

The Leicester City striker has discovered his green fingers during the Premier League break and created his own allotment.

Jamie, 33, said: “Chillis, peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, cabbage, cauliflower, beetroots, carrots, peas, corn, pumpkins...

“Everything is growing in there.

“I started with the kids, just giving them something to do during the day, and then I went overboard.”

The Vardy clan’s idyllic life does not stop at plants – with a pet dog also part of the family.

And the pooch has put Jamie to shame during his sprint training sessions.

The striker, who retired from England duty after the 2018 World Cup, said: “We had loads of shuttle runs that we had to do.

“But Billy, the French bulldog, he’s sprinting in front of me. I’m thinking, ‘You lairy git – you’re making me look bad here.’”

Europe. It’s basically a courier service. You pick up the gear off the Travellers then drop it off where they tell you to – usually somewhere near Malaga, so it can go to different countries from there.

“For a trip for 50 kilos I’d get 1,000 euros and I’d do that two or three times a week.

“In return the Travellers let you have your own grow ,as long as you’re not stepping on their toes. So you’ve got Mancs, Scousers, Londoners all out there with massive grows on. There’s big money to be made because demand for the top strains is now bigger than ever.”

Cannabis is decriminalised in Spain, though not fully legal. People have to buy it from regulated places such as social clubs. Seeds can be legally grown in many cases.

The grower said the loopholes made it easy to sell to social clubs and coffee shops.

He said: “If you get someone to sign you in one of the clubs or coffee shops, you can then grow so many ounces for them.

“So that’s what we do. It’s a way of legitimising your supply. But we also send bits of swag back to the UK as well.”

He said lockdown had pushed up prices because it was difficult to move drugs.

He added: “Money was lost so it had to be made up and pushing up prices is the only way to do that. Once things settle down again they’ll go back down. Like in any business, demand will dictate that.”
