ON HER MAJESTY’S SOMETIMES SERVICE

MI6 seeking part-timers to fill James Bond roles

INTELLIGENCE chiefs are on the hunt for James Bond-style spies... to work part-time.

Details of the bizarre MI6 recruitment drive were revealed in a series of magazine adverts.

The move is believed to be the brainchild of Richard Moore – the new head of MI6 – who is keen to make the agency a more attractive workplace.

The career diplomat revealed publicly last year that his wife is blind. He now wants to recruit more people from across society, including those with disabilities.

One advert, headlined “Tell

Me A Secret”, said: “The Secret Intelligence Service seeks individuals with diverse skill sets and life experiences for parttime and consulting roles to enhance our core mission.”

It continued: “We work in challenging and volatile environments in the real world and online, with a focus on national security, economic wellbeing and the prevention or detection of serious crime.” It added: “We welcome applications from UK and foreign nationals alike.”

MI6 recruits hundreds of people from the UK and overseas.

But this is the first time that the Secret Intelligence Service has openly advertised positions for parttime spies.

A source told us: “MI6 wants people with contacts in foreign countries. It will be attractive to people who might be bored with their role as an executive for a multinational looking to spice up their dull life. “How many middleaged men or women would jump at the chance of being able to tell their grandchildren that they were once a secret agent?”
