Hourihane so classy in Swan to savour

- By SIMON BIRD

STEVE COOPER claimed Swansea scored a hat-trick of “classy, fantastic” finishes.

The Swansea boss saw Conor Hourihane, Matt Grimes and sub Jay Fulton conjure brilliant goals to finish off hard working Rotherham.

The Swans are making their presence felt in the top two and face a showdown with leaders Norwich on Friday.

Cooper said: “I am really pleased and the dressing room is lively. To score three away is a good return.

“And we scored three brilliant goals, class finishes, from our midfielders and also class in the moves, which showed the way we want to play.”

Hourihane, on loan from Aston Villa, could prove to be one of the best signings of the January window and he pulled the strings, grabbing a goal and an assist in the first half.

He volleyed home after Andre Ayew, Jamal Lowe and Yan Dhanda combined to tee him up for a strike from 15 yards.

City made it two with a special strike from Grimes, who volleyed home from the edge of the box.

The Millers scored through Freddie Ladapo’s header from a corner to bring it back to 2-1 after the break but the game was over when Fulton netted with his first touch in the 74th minute.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne said: “Hourihane is like the best kid at school.

“If ever we needed a crowd in it was today.”
