CASH IN TRANSIT

- @ecoworrierRick

A BANK robber, 39, made her getaway in an electric wheelchair but was arrested still in it a mile away in Jacksonville, Florida.

SUNDAY’S traditionally car washing day – and we’re all scrubbers right now. But am I the only one who loves soaping up?

Once lockdown is lifted, just pop your motor over to my place and I’ll be happy to take care of it, as I’ve always found cleaning cars a therapeutic pastime.

I do a much better job than those get ’em in and out quick places – they always miss a bit and never do the wheels properly.

That said, yesterday I was washing the car with my daughter.

She moaned: “Dad, can’t you use a sponge like everyone else?”

GET ready for the ride of your life – because new crime drama Sky Rojo certainly isn’t short on sex appeal.

Veronica Sanchez, Yany Prado and Lali Esposito play a trio of hookers who are on the run from their pimp.

One insider said: “There are drugs, shootouts, explosions and dead bodies. This show has got the lot.”

There are also scenes in a seedy sex club packed with jaw-dropping moments.

Not one to watch with mum and dad, then! Sky Rojo is by the masterminds behind the global hit Money Heist.

Watch it on Netflix from March 19.

I’M discovering that composting has a heap of benefits.

You save money on fertiliser and on having garden waste taken away.

You get a natural, organic source of nutrients for your garden. And you send fewer food scraps to landfill, where they could generate methane, a potent greenhouse gas.

But top of the plus pile for me is the helping hand you give our wildlife.

Among the simple invertebrates that live in compost are worms, mites, springtails and pseudoscorpions – tiny arachnids with pincer-like arms.

Bigger insects include the rose chafer beetle, which has a beautiful green shell, while toads love to spend winter hibernating in a compost heap.

A SURVIVOR of the Selby rail crash has described how his near-death experience 20 years ago has changed his life.

Bob Brook said the horror stayed with him, adding: “Doing anything other than sitting quietly at home was absolutely terrifying.”

His wife Chris said: “I did feel he changed quite a bit. I wouldn’t even say he’s now the person I married.”

The collision between an InterCity passenger service and a fully laden coal train, near the North Yorkshire village of Great Heck, claimed the lives of 10 men.

Mr Brook said: “I’m fairly lucky not to have died. If I’d have been half an hour later into hospital I probably wouldn’t have made it.”

A series of virtual events is being held today to mark the 20th anniversary of the 2001 collision.

THE countdown is on for June 21, when we can finally leave our homes and make a break for more exotic climes…

Or at least head to Cornwall to enjoy a taste of freedom.
