JOBS for the week

-

Bring some spring colour to your pots by planting primroses.

Order snowdrops in the green for planting now. You can also lift and divide snowdrops after flowering to spread them around the garden.

Prune early flowering clematis once their flowering has finished.

If you have a cold frame or glass house, now’s a good time to give it a spring clean in advance of the growing season.

Dead-head winter pansies to keep them producing flowers.

Shrubs grown for their large foliage can be pruned back hard. Catalpa (Indian bean tree) and Paulownia (foxglove) left alone will grow into large trees but you can keep them manageable by hacking back every spring and enjoying their exotic-looking foliage.

Hardy annuals can be sown now indoors for transplanting outdoors later.

If you don’t have one, dedicate a small area of the garden to making your own compost – it’s a great way of managing garden waste such as lawn clippings.

Peugeot has added an electric version of its Rifter people mover to its range of EVs that’s called, predictably, the e-Rifter.

The hardware consists of a

136bhp electric motor and a

50kWh battery, which provides a maximum range of 171 miles. Long and short wheelbase versions are available with seating for five and seven people.

No prices yet because the e-Rifter doesn’t go on sale until later in the year.
