Porsche that’s great on road ...& track
This is my sort of sports car. It’s the new Porsche 911
GT3. It has a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 503bhp and revs all the way to
9,000rpm. Better still, there’s the option of a manual gearbox.
Porsche developed this car in cahoots with its racing department and the result is a vehicle you can drive every day but which will easily handle a day hammering around Silverstone.
The front suspension is derived from the system used on the racing 911 RSR and is the first double-wishbone suspension to be used on a road-going 911.
Porsche has used plenty of tricks to keep the GT3 as low as possible by using carbon fibre reinforced plastic for the bonnet, thinner window glass and the removal of rear seats.
