TEMPERATURES will be on the rise as pub beer gardens reopen on Magic Monday – sparking a two-week 60million-pint booze-up from tomorrow.

Weekend snow flurries and chilly 8C highs will give way to 12C sunny spells and dry skies for most of the day.

With predictions of 14C on Tuesday, and pushing 18C from Thursday and for the weekend, it is set to be even hotter than Monaco.

The forecast provides cheering news for millions of us after three months of strict lockdown.

The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: “The weather will warm up as pubs reopen, with good sunny spells from Monday and close to 18C by Thursday.

“Warm air will waft in from the

continent, although there will be some showers, most likely in the North West.”

In England, 30,000 pubs and restaurants will serve beer in their outdoor spaces from tomorrow. Many more will pull pints for takeaway drinkers.

Around 60million pints are set to be downed in the first two weeks, British Beer and Pub Association beer consumption data trends shows.

There will be a feelgood atmosphere as some city streets’ outside bars are shut off and lined with tables, allowing social distancing.

Many pub tables are available for customers who just turn up – as a large number of pubs are not taking advance reservations.

Families on Easter holidays, and some furloughed workers, are set to bag spaces in pubs by visiting in the daytime rather than the evening.

Many pubs have also added heaters and marquees in gardens. Nick Mackenzie from brewing giant Greene

King said: “It’s great we can finally open.”
