THE rising number of nuclear missiles transported on UK roads has led to fears of an “accident waiting to happen”.

Trident warheads are taken from a base near Glasgow for maintenance at Burghfield, Berks – a distance of 400 miles.

SNP MP Owen Thompson said: “They use country roads not designed for huge convoys, never mind dangerous cargo.”
