No Sly for new Rocky adventure
SYLVESTER Stallone won’t feature in the new Rocky film – even though he created the main character.
It marks the end of a 45year run of Sly being in the boxing movies, playing fighter Rocky Balboa.
Instead, the leading star of the Creed franchise, Michael B. Jordan, 34, will return as Adonis “Donnie” Creed for the ninth Rocky film – and third Creed flick.
Stallone’s representative confirmed he will not take part in the MGM production, but no additional explanation was offered.
The 74-year-old won an Oscar after coming up with and starring in the original movie in 1976, alongside Carl Weathers, 73.
Michael De Luca, MGM’s Film Group chairman, said: “Michael’s vision for Creed III is incredibly exciting and will undoubtedly be an important contribution to the canon of this storied franchise.”
Creed III is scheduled for release in November next year.
