EDIN FOR BIG £2m PAY-OFF
EDINSON CAVANI’S future is complicated by a £2million pay-off which Manchester United must hand him if they fail to trigger a one-year extension to his contract.
The striker, 34 (below) signed a one-year deal worth £200,000-a-week when he arrived at Old Trafford in October after being released by Paris Saint-Germain.
The agreement also included the option of a further 12 months – but only if both parties agreed.
Talks have now become deadlocked because neither side is prepared to make a decision that will cost them millions.
Argentine giants Boca Juniors want to take him back to South America.
But they are unable to match the £10.5m-a-year salary the Uruguayan earns at Old Trafford.
And the hitman is holding out for a lucrative settlement from United.
