The British Academy Film Awards 7pm, BBC One

Let’s be honest, 2020 wasn’t a vintage year for people who enjoy going to the cinema. However, just because there were long stretches when that wasn’t possible, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good year for film.

Dermot O’Leary and Edith Bowman will be celebrating some of the best movies from the past 12 months in this ceremony, which comes live from the Royal Albert Hall.

The titles in the running for awards include Promising Young Woman and The Father (which are nominated in the Best Film and Outstanding British Films categories). The actors who could be picking up gongs include Sir Anthony Hopkins, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Kaluuya and Chadwick Boseman, who has been posthumously nominated for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
